Ara : The three- day 160th Veer Kuer Singh Victory Day (Vijyotsava) concluded at village Dulaur under Jagdishpur block in Bhojpur district on April 25, 2018. Wrestling, Javelin throw, Horseriding, Archery, Kabaddi, quiz competitions were organized and a number of participants from different parts of Bihar including women participated in these competitions and awards were given to the successful participants. Besides, Debate, Essay, Drawing and painting competitions were also organized to mark the occasion. All the competitions and cultural programmes were organized at Veer Kuer Singh Village made for the purpose.
During three- day Vijyotsav celebrations, several dramas, folk and Bhojpuri songs by renowned artists like Malini Awasthi, Bharat Singh Bharati, Nitu Kumari Navgit kept the audience spellbound with their performance. Malini Awasthi impressed the audience with her song “rahal veer kuer singh, bharat mai ke lalanwa” while Nitu Kumari Navgit was applauded for her songs based on Veer Babu Kuer Singh. The folk songs highlighting some social evils like dowry, child marriage. Training programmes for making woman self-dependent were also organized.
Speaking on the occasion, Mailini Awasthi and Nitu Kumari Navgit said that ideals and thoughts of Babu Kuer Singh were still relevant and motivational. They expressed concern over vulgarity in Bhoujpuri songs. Bharat Singh Bharati said that Babu Kuer Singh was very fond of horse riding, wrestling and javelin feats.
