Patna: Head of Department (HOD), Hindi, Patna University (PU), Prof Matuknath Choudhary, and Prof Dilip Ram of the same department were placed under suspension by PU Vice Chancellor (VC) YC Simhadri on January 17.

PU sources said that a party was organized in the PG Hindi Department on October 6, 2016. In the party, Matuknath Choudhary and another Professor Dilip Ram were found dancing with the girl students. Some of the students had made a video of the entire programme. PU sources said that some of the students took up the matter with the Patna University VC and handed him over a copy of the video. Some of the students also informed the Chancellor cum Governor about the function and also sent a video of the entire function to his secretariat.An inquiry was ordered into the entire episode. After submission of the inquiry report, PU VC placed Matuknath and Dilip Ram under suspension.

It may be mentioned here that Prof. Matuknath Choudhary, then Professor of Hindi Department, BN College, PU, had hit the headlines and called Bihar’s Love Guru after entering into a live-in relationship with  one of his students Julie. His wife Abha Choudhary later filed a petition in the court seeking alimony for her. The court had then ordered Choudhary to pay Rs 15,000 per month to his wife.

The Patna University had paid him Rs 20.70 lakh as his salaries and other perks for a period of more than five years during which he was first kept under suspension and then dismissed from service on the charge of bringing the teacher-pupil relationship to disrepute.
