Hajipur (Vaishali) : With the arrest of five persons, Vaishali police on January 19 claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of vehicle lifters, who used to loot/steal vehicles from here and then sold them in north eastern states. The arrested persons have confessed their involvement in sale of 23 such vehicles to customers in Tripura and Nagaland, said Vaishali SP Rakesh Kumar.

Vaishali SP had received inputs that criminals were planning to commit some crime in area under Town police station. A police team led by Town ps SHO Suni Kumar started vehicle checking on Konhara Ghat Bypass Road. The cops during vehicle checking saw some persons coming out of a four-wheeler (Scorpio) and trying to escape.

Police team chased them and arrested five persons, who were identified as Sitaram Singh alias Raushan Singh, a native of village Sukhanand under Kumarkhand ps in Madhepura, Chandradeo Rai, a native of Chakmultani under Sadar ps in Vaishali, Baiju Rai, a native of  Bochaha under Mohiuddinnagar ps in Samastipur,  Sheo Kumar alias Bhola Singh, a native of Dighikalan East under Sadar ps in Vaishali, and Mithun Kumar, a native of Narayani under Town ps in Vaishali. Police recovered two countrymade revolvers, two countrymade pistols, five live cartridges, five master keys, Nepali currency, one looted four-wheeler (Scorpio) and two kg Ganja.

Vaishali SP said that this particular gang was active in Muzaffarpur, Vaishali and Samstipur districts. He said the arrested persons confessed during interrogation that they have sold 23 stolen four-wheelers in north-eastern states. An FIR was lodged with Town police station in Hajipur in connection with recovery of objectionable items from the possession of the arrested persons, said Vaishali SP, adding that the arrested persons were wanted in connection with cases of theft of two-wheelers and four-wheelers lodged with the Town police station in Hajipur.
