Buxar: Upset with their neglect and family dispute, two elderly women tried to commit suicide by jumping into river Ganga at Buxar on Monday though both of them were rescued by the locals.
SHO, Buxar town police station, Raghav Dayal said that Tapeshwari Devi, 75, wife of Bhola Nath Mahto of Jagdishpur under the same police station in Bhojpur district jumped into river Ganga at Sati Ghat at Buxar on Monday but the locals rescued her and informed police. Police brought her to the police station and after first aid, fed her and tried to know the reason for her suicide bid. She narrated her woes to police and said that she had a son but after the death of her husband, no one cared her. Though her son remained silent, her daughter-in-law and grandsons tortured her daily, the woman alleged.
Another elderly women, wife of late Dev Kumar of Lahthan village under Agiaw police station in Bhojpur district, jumped into river Ganga river at Ram Rekha Ghat at Buxar the same day. She too was also rescued by the locals. She also narrated the same story before police and said she has no desire to live anymore. Police officials played consoled both the elderly women and sent them back home with their family members warning them not to torture them otherwise stern action would be taken against them.
