Ara: Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawarchand Gehlot distributed tricycles and hearing aid among 242 differently abled persons on Tuesday at Veer Kuer Singh Stadium, Ara,  at a function organized by Bhojpur district administration.

Addressing the people on the occasion, the union minister highlighted achievements of Narendra Modi  government in two years and said that it had launched a number of welfare schemes for the poor and downtrodden people and  more such  schemes were ready to be launched. He directed the district administration to carry out a survey in all the blocks of Bhojpur district to identify the physically challenged persons so that government might plan for them.Shiv Kumar Singh, assistant director, social justice, Bhojpur,  said that Bhojpur district administration had done a survey for the physically challenged persons in Ara block and selected 300 persons who were registered and given tricycles and hearing aids but only 242 persons turned up.

District Project Manager Sanjay Paswan said that under prohibition, CM Nitish Kumar had a direct communication with the members of Jeevika at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, Patna, in which 200 Jeevika Didis from Bhojpur district participated on Tuesday. A live telecast of the programme was organized at Ara at Sanskritik Bhawan where 500 Jeevika Didis and   officials of the district administration were present.
