Ara : An undertrial prisoner Rajesh Chaudhary of Gyanpur under Jagdishpur police station in Bhojpur district escaped from  Ara Civil Court on February 19, 2019, evening. A named FIR has been lodged with Ara Town police station against Rajesh Chaudhary on the statement of a Homeguards personnel Janardan and police are conducting raids to arrest him.

Police had arrested three persons including Rajesh Chaudhary on February 18, 2019, night, from Jagdishpur police station area in connection with liquor smuggling and had brought them to Ara Civil Court on February 19, 2019. As police were taking all the prisoners to Ara jail from Sadar Hospital, Ara, Rajesh Chaudhary, removed manacles from his hand and escaped from the custody around 5pm on February 19.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that the matter was being investigated and he has ordered for arrest Rajesh Chaudhary at the earliest and added if laxity on part of any police personnel is detected, stern action would be taken against him.

Sources said an inmate of Ara jail Manish Singh alias Hero had escaped from Ara Civil Court in August 2018 when he was brought over there for production before the court.
