Ara : Police are yet to lodge an FIR in connection with demand of an extortion amount of Rs 20 lakh from from Block Development Officer (BDO), Udwantnagar block in Bhojpur district, Dharmendra Kumar Singh, by a naxalite from Jharkhand with a threat to blow up the block office with hand grenade if his directive was complied with within 10 days. No security has been provided to  BDO Singh till date either forcing him to proceed on long live on October 30, 2018, along with his family members.

The naxalite had sent the letter to Udwantnagar BDO on October 27, 2018. The BDO had informed Udwantnagar police station about it besides requesting Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar and  SP Aditya Kumar to inquire into the matter and provide him and his family member security.

The SHO, Udwantnagar police station, said that inquiry is on and the FIR would be lodged after inquiry is complete. Bhojpur SP Adtiya Kumar said that the letter was fake and added police were investigating into the matter.

Meanwhile, the employees of Udwantnagar block staged demonstration before the block office on October 30, 2018, alleging inaction on the part of Bhojpur district administration over the issue. They were raising slogans against the Bhojpur district administration.
