Sasaram : Two youth fell into the main canal near Nawadiha under Indrapuri police station in Rohtas district on October 19, 2019, and were feared drowned while another youth survived. Police were yet to recover the two youth.
The two youth swept away by current in the canal were identified as Abhishek Kumar of Huraka village and Kundan Kumar of Laxman Bigaha under Tilauthu police station in Rohtas district while their friend who survived is identified as Pappu Kumar of Ara in Bhojpur district.
SHO, Indrapuri police station, said that Abhishek Kumar along with his friend Kundan Kumar and Pappu Kumar was going to Laxman Bigaha from Nimiadih on a motorcycle through the main canal road. As he reached near Nimiadih bridge, they along with the motorcycle fell into the canal in his bid to save a stray animal in which Abhishek Kumar and Kundan Kumar were swept away in the current while Pappu Kumar somehow survived.
The villagers informed the officials of the irrigation department and got the sluice gate closed and tried to search the two youth. The Circle Officer showed his helplessness as no diver was available at that time. The villagers then complained to the senior officials.
