Ara : Additional District and Sessions Judge IV, Ara,  Yogesh Narain Singh on February 7 sentenced to rigorous life  imprisonment two persons and also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on each of them in connection with murder of a married woman for dowry.

Niraj Kumari, daughter of Shyambihari Singh of Muddaffarpur village under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district, was married to Indrajeet Singh, son of Sarayu Singh of Bajarua village under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district in April 2012. Her in-laws were demanding a gold chain, a TV and a motorcycle in dowry and tortured her physically and mentally and when their demands were not fulfilled, they killed her on October 14, 2013.

A named FIR was lodged with Udwantnagar police station against her father-in-law Sarayu Singh, husband Indrajeet Singh, brother-in-law (dewar) Bhutali Singh and others. After hearing both the parties, the court awarded rigorous life imprisonment to Sarayu Singh and Bhutali Singh.
