Gopalganj: Buckling under police pressure, two accused of infamous Khajurbanni hooch tragedy surrendered before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Gopalganj,  on Friday. Both the accused-mother and son- were later forwarded to judicial custody by the court. Three of the accused are still at large and district police are carrying out regular raids to nab them. Altogether 11 persons have been remanded to judicial custody in this connection.

Special Public Prosecutor, Excise Department, Ravibhushan Srivastava said that Laljhari Devi, a native of village Khajubanni, and her son Kanhaiya Pasi surrendered before the court on Friday after istehar was issued against them. Out of 14 accused, Grahan Pasi, Rina Devi and Indu Devi are still at large.

Sources  said that Town police of Gopalganj are in hot pursuit of Rupesh Shukla alias Pandit in connection with the liquor tragedy. After arrest of Nagina Pasi, Pandit’s name came to the fore. He is a native of village Jalalpur under Jamo Bazar police station in Siwan district. Raids are on to arrest him, police sources said.
