Ara : Two minor children drowned in a pond at village Dularpur under Gadhani police station (PS) in Bhojpur District  in South Bihar when they had gone there to immerse an idol. The were identified as Arman, 10, son of Upendra Singh of Dularpur, and his sister Varsha, 8. The villagers fished their bodies out of the pond and informed  police. Later, police brought the bodies to Ara Sadar Hospital for postmortem.

Arman and Varsha had gone to a village pond to immerse some photos and idols of gods and goddesses but they fell into the pond and drowned. The villagers saw their bodies floating on the water and took their bodies out of the pond.

In another incident, a teenage girl student of class IX Madhu Kumar, 15, daughter of Ramashankar Singh of village Saidpur village under Ara Muffassil PS, drowned in river Ganga while taking a dip at Mauzampur Ghat under Sinha police outpost in Bhojpur District. Her body is still not found.

Madhu Kumar had come to her uncle (mausa) Umesh Singh at Chainpur Mahuli to perform Navratri Puja. She along with her aunt (mausi) Sandhya Devi and her cousin Puja went to the river Ganga at Mauzampur to take a dip. When they were taking bath in the river both the girls were trapped in the fast current of the river. The villagers somehow rescued Puja Kumari but failed to rescue Madhu Kumar. The divers and even a team of NDRF are still searching for her.
