Saharsa : Mohd Qayyum, 55, and Abdul Razzak, 30, of village Gaheshpur in Telwa East Panchayat under Mahishi block in Saharsa district were swept away after the strong current of river Kosi washed away a road when they were going to take bath in the river on August 13, 2017. Later, the bodies were fished out and sent for post-mortem to Saharsa Sadar Hospital.
Four persons including Mohd Qayyum and Razzak were going to take bath in river Kosi. But,the other two swam to safety. A large number villagers at the place after hearing about the news of two persons in the flood.
In another incident, about a dozen persons including seven women had a lucky escape when a small boat carrying them to East Kosi Embankment from Bahuraba Basa under Salkhua block in Saharsa district capsized in river Kosi. But, passengers on a bigger boat, also coming from Bahuraba en route Kosi embankment, saved all of them. The smaller boat capsized in river Kosi soon after leaving Bahuraba, said Mithilesh Singh and Anil Singh, two passengers. They said that they were saved as the water level of the river where the boat capsized was not that much.
