Saharsa : Five children drowned to death in flood water at different villages under Simribakhtiarpur, Salkhua, Mahishi and Sonbersa Raj blocks in Saharsa district on August 13, 2017. The bodies were sent to Saharsa Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
Shivam Kumar, 13, son of Sanjay Sharma of Kumedan Tola in Sitanabad North Panchayat under Simribakhtiarpur block, drowned to death while taking bath in water accumulated besides the road. Priyanshu Kumar, 12, of village Alani under Salkhua block located inside East Kosi Embankment drowned to death in flood water on road when he was returning home after purchasing biscuits from a shop as the rural road was washed away in the flood.
Kajal Kumari, 12, of village Matkhaura under Salkhua block, drowned to death after falling in a water filled ditch when she had gone out. Rupan Kumari, 5, daughter of Santosh Sada of village Mohanpur under Sonbersa Raj PS, also drowned to death in a water filled ditch while playing near it. Yashoda Kumari, 7, of village Virgaon under Mahishi block fell into a water filled ditch while playing and died.
