Patna: Police arrested two members of a gang involved in theft of bikes from different localities of the state capital from Buddha Smiriti Park on December 22 under Operation Vishwash launched at the instance of SSP, Patna. Police recovered a stolen bike, two cellphones besides a pistol from the arrested persons, said Patna Senior SP (SSP) Manu Maharaaj.
Police said that the SSP had received information that some criminals had reached near Buddha Smiriti Park with intention to commit crime. He immediately directed Kotwali ps SHO and members of Technical Cell to take action against the criminals. A police team led by Hotwali SHO reached the spot and saw some youth escaping from there. The cops chased them and arrested two of them and recovered cellphones and a pistol from their possession.
During interrogation, the arrested criminals told the police that they used to contact local mechanics after stealing bikes and then sold them in local markets after changing their number plates. The gang members used to sell the stolen bikes in Jehanabad and Nalanda, police said adding that the gang members also used to extort money from the people after threatening them.
The SSP said that the arrested criminals were identified as Lalan Jha, who was staying on Chandmari Road Patna,and a native of Benipur in Darbhanga district, and Anil Kumar, a resident of Postal Park, Patna.
