Ara : In a sensational incident, four bike borne criminals shot dead two persons on the campus of Ara railway station under Nawada police station in Bhojpur district on May 4, 2018, night, and escaped firing in air. Tension prevails at Ara town and its vicinity following the incident as police have failed to arrest the assailants. War with a rival gang is  said to be the reason behind the incident. An FIR has been lodged with Government Rail Police, Ara, in this connection.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that Md Haqim Raine, son of Md Hafeez of Bhaluhipur, Md Aslam of Tari Mohalla, and Pankaj Kumar alias Bottle Bind, son of Dinesh Prasad Bind of Bind Toli under Town police station, had come to the Ara railway station around 8pm on May 4 and were taking tea just behind the Durga temple on the campus of Ara railway station.

After taking tea, Md Aslam went to chew some tobacco. In the meantime four armed persons riding two motorcycles arrived there and started firing indiscriminately killing Md Haqin and Pankaj Kumar and escaped towards Nawada police station firing in the air, the SP said. He said that police recovered eight blank and a live cartridge from the spot besides photograph of a girl from the packet of Md Haqim Raine. Police brought the bodies to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

The SP said that Md Haqim Raine had criminal background and had close contact with almost all the wanted criminals in the district and was named accused in the murder of Abbu, son of an RJD leader Md Ekram, in 2013 and was sent to jail but was out on bail. Later, he had changed his profession to became a property dealer and had earned a lot in the business. He had some tiff with some people of Bhaluhipur over 8 kattha of land about a week ago. Pankaj Kumar alias Bottle was a contractor.

The SP said that police are interrogating Md Aslam to know details of the incident. He said police are taking help of mobile surveillance and mobile tower location to arrest the killers. The SP further said that Md Haqim Raine and Pankaj Kumar might have been killed at the behest of a notorious criminal lodged in Ara jail. Md Haqim had contact with a rival group of that criminal and the police are investigating the incident from that angle too.

Police sources said that Md Haqim Raine and Pankaj Kumar Bind went to Ara Station daily for tea and the assailants knew about it and hatched a plan to kill the duo. Pankaj Kumar Bind’s uncle Krishna Bind said that he had asked Pankaj not to go to Ara station but he did not obey him.
