Gopalganj: Sensation prevailed in the locality after the villagers found the bodies of a mother- daughter duo near  Itawa Bridge under Uchakagoan police station in Gopalganj district on December 27  morning. Both of them had come to Lachwar Dham for puja and were killed by some criminals who looted their valuables. The bodies were later sent to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

The deceased were identified as Shanti Devi, wife of Rajendra Prasad of village Dhekaha under Mufassil ps, Motihari, in East Champaran district, and Priyanka Kumari. The victims were identified on Tuesday evening as the local police , sent their photographs to their counterparts in Motihari on Whatsapp.

Locals said that they found the two bodies near Itawa Bridge and informed the local police about it. Later, local SHO Anil Kumar reached the spot and started investigation into the double murder. The bodies bore deep injury marks and the clothes on their bodies were also torn. The ornaments on the bodies of the victims were missing and the criminals also tried to smash their faces so that they were not identified. The cops also found some pamphlets of Lachwar Dham on the spot. Through the pamphlets, the cops traced their addresses of Motihari.

The bodies of the victims were later brought to Uchakagaon police station premises after autopsy. Their family members have left Motihari for Gopalganj. Hathwa SDPO Mohd. Imteyaz said that since the victims had been identified, police would soon crack the case.
