Patna : World No 27 in WTA rankings Lesia Tsurenko, 29, Ukraine, entered the women’s singles final of Brisbane International 2019 at Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, on January 5, 2019. Tsurenko beat World No 5 and reigning US Open champion Naomi Osaka, 21, Japan, 6-2, 6-4 in the semi-finals.

Osaka fired 8 Aces in the match to 6 by Tsurenko. Both the players committed 2 double faults each in the match. Tsurenko, however, won 3 break points besides winning 5 games in a row. Tsurenko won 39 service points to 31 by Osaka. Tsurenko had defeated World No 21 Anett Kontaveit, 23, Estonia, in the quarter-finals.
