Bagaha : The nationwide strike by central trade unions to protest against alleged anti-worker policies and unilateral labour reforms by the central government evoked mixed response on January 9, 2019, under Bagaha Sub-Division in West Champaran district.

The CPI (ML) activists in a larger number led by D N Dwivedi and Bhikhari Prasad took out a rally from Ambedakar statue near Sub Divisional headquarters to Tirupati Sugars Mill, Bagaha, shouting slogans against the central as well as state government charging them with pursuing anti- workers policies. A corner meeting was also held at Bagaha. D N Dwivedi, Bhikari Prasad, and Lal Babu Prasad were prominent among those addressing the meeting. They strongly criticised the anti-sugarcane farmers policy of Bihar government.
