Madhubani: The hotly contested election of Chairman, Madhubani Zila Parishad, slated for today saw some curious pre-election manuovers. While the candidature of Anita Yadav as the party nominee for the contest was declared by the district Congress President Shitalambar with the backing of some prominent congressmen of the district, the lone Congress MLA from the district Bhawana jha batted for Meena Kumari who has been declared as the candidate of Grand Alliance comprising of RJD, JD(U) and Congress.
Confusion also prevailed in the BJP camp. While Sheila Mandal, allegedly an outsider, has been declared as the NDA
nominee for the post, the district BJP chief Ghanshyam Thakur, who was trying for the adoption of his wife as the NDA candidate, has termed the move as the insult of dedicated party workers. The outcome of the seemingly triangular contest by late afternoon today amidst rumours of huge amounts of money having changed hands can be anybody’s guess.
