Patna :  Top seed Ashleight Barty, 25, Australia beat World No 51 Madison Keys, 26, USA, in straight sets in women’s singles semi-final on January 27, 2022, to advance to the Australian Open (AO) final. World No 1 & reigning Wimbledon champion Barty thumped 2017 US Open finalist Madison Keys 6-1, 6-3 in semi-final on Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park, Australia, winning 4 break points and 5 games in a row during the match. Barty is the first Australian women to reach the Australian Open final since 1980.

Barty, the winner of two Grand Slam singles titles including 2019 French Open title, won 65 points during the match to 39 by Madison. The Australian fired 5 Aces during the match to just 1 by Madison. Barty’s winning percentage both on her first and second serve ( 86% 67%) was much better than that of Madison’s ( 4% & 56%). Barty is yet to drop a set in the AO 2022.

Barty, the winner of 14 career titles, won 29 receiving points to 10 points by the American., who had defeated reigning French Open champion & 4th seed Barbora Krejcikova, 26, Czech Republic, in quarter-final on January 25, 2022. Madison, winner of 6 career titles,had also defeated 8th seed Paula Badosa, 24, Spain, in 4th round.,
