Top naxal Munna Rai arrested, two looted police rifles, pistol seized

Patna: A Patna Police team on December 25 arrested a hardcore naxal co-ordinator Munna Rai from village Sabalpur under Punpun police station. Police also seized two loot police rifles, one pistol and 23 live cartridges from his ed0oopossession, said senior SP (SSP), Patna, Manu Maharaaj.ted

The SSP had been receiving inputs about naxal activities at village Sabalpur under Punpun police station for the past several days. A police team led by ASP (Operations) Rakesh Kumar Dubey was constituted to arrest Rai. The police team came to know that some unknown faces were being seen around Rai’s house. It also received information that nsome naxals along with Rai were planning to commit some crime after bringing some arms.

Police raided the house of Rai, who tried to escape after opening fire at the police team. Police, however, arrested him after a hot chase. Police seized one pistol from the possession of Rai. Later during search of his house, police seized looted police rifles, one countrymade pistol besides 23 live cartridges.

Police, during interrogation of Rai, came to know that he remained in constant touch with naxals and used to claim his supremacy in the locality by keeping arms of the naxals at his house. He was also involved in illegal grabbing of land at his village, police said adding that cases have been lodged against Rai in Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurangabad and Arwal.
