Bagaha:  Tirupati Sugar Mill, Bagaha, having capacity to crush 70,000 to 80,000 quintal sugarcane per day, on November 20 started crushing sugarcane for  2016-2017 season.

Managing Director (MD) of the Sugar Mill Dipak Yadav said that the mill had crushed about 70 lakh quintal of sugarcane last season and arrears of sugarcane growers had already been paid into their banks accounts. He said this season the mill is likely to crush about 90 lakh quintal sugarcane. MD Yadav said that Sugarcane is a cash crop for the farmers hence the management has decided to pay the sugarcane price within a fortnight from the date of the supply of  the cane.

He said the  factory had given assistance to cane growers of Bagaha this year and they were  able to grow sugarcane on about 4,000 acre. Yadav said that due to poor condition 0f roads  in the area the mill was  facing problem in reaching sufficient cane at factory gate. The mill had spent about Rs 50 lakh on road  maintenance this year, he said. MD Yadav said that the mill management was planning to supply 5 MW power to Bagaha  in near future.
