Begusarai : Three women were killed and some others injured in a stampede near Simaria Ghat on the banks of river Ganga in Begusarai district in North Bihar around 7 am on November 4, 2017. Simaria Ghat is 107 km away from Bihar Capital, Patna.
According to DSP, Sadar, Begusarai, the incident occurred in a narrow lane next to the ghat where people had gathered in large numbers on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. Police are trying to ascertain the reason behind the stampede. The deceased were yet to be identified.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has announced an ex- gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and free treatment for those injured in the incident.
