Muzaffarpur : Three year old Manish, a confirmed case of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) under treatment at Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, since April 10, 2017, died on April 13 evening. SKMCH Superintendent Dr G K Thakur said that Manish, a resident of Runnisaidpur Ratnauli in Sitamarhi district, was admitted to the medical college hospital following high fever and convulsions and was later confirmed as a case of JE.
Manish was under treatment of Dr Brajmohan. Dr Thakur said that it was the first case in the last two years which was confirmed as JE during test. He said that the state government had been informed about the death of the child. Muzaffarpur Civil Surgeon (CS) on April 14 directed the doctors posted at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to treat the children showing symptoms of JE as per standard procedure and immediately refer them to SKMCH.
