Saharsa : Three drunk persons on May 13, 2017, tried to outrage the modesty of a four year girl at village Bhagwanpur under Saur Bazaar police station in Saharsa district but when she got  unconscious they left her in a maize field and escaped. Incidentally, the three accused are yet to be arrested though the grandmother of the girl Chanchal Devi has given their names to SHO, Mahila police station, Saharsa, Aarti Singh. SHO Aarti Singh said that an FIR would be lodged in this connection only after an inquiry into the allegations.

The girl was sleeping with her grandmother Chanchala Devi on a bamboo platform (Machan) when the three miscreants reached there on an auto and lifted her from there and took her to the maize field. After an hour some people saw the girl lying unconscious in the field and raised an alarm hearing which Chanchala Devi also reached there and found it was her granddaughter. She rushed to Mahila police station with the girl where the SHO asked her to admit her to the Sadar hospital for treatment. The girl regained consciousness on May 14 at the hospital.

Chanchala Devi informed the SHO that she had a dispute over the Machan with her neighbour Nageshwar Sharma, who wanted her to remove it. She alleged that when refused to yield to his demand, Nageshwar, Sunil Sharma and Ranjit Sharma lifted her granddaughter from the Machan and tried to outrage her modesty to settle score with her.
