Bettiah : Three children of Sheikh Guddu of village Kadamawa under Gopalpur police station under Narakatiaganj sub -division in West Champaran district were roasted alive in a devastating fire caused by an earthen lamp. The children identified as Afsana, 5, Erashad, 3, and Dilasad, 5 months, died on the spot.
Sources said that Sheikh Guddu and his wife had gone to the house of Shekh Muzalim, father of Sheikh Guddu, after the kids slept around 930 pm on March 6, 2017. Suddenly, the flame of earthen lamp gutted the house of Sheikh Guddu.
Sikata BDO Anwar Ahmad and Gopalpur police satation Sub Inspector Chandra Bhusan Singh reached there after getting the information. Police brought the charred bodies of children to MJK hospital, Bettiah, for autopsy. Sikata BDO Anwar Ahmad provided Rs 9,800 to the parents of the three kids and assured payment of Rs 4 lakh to each victim as compensation. Sugarcane development department minister and MLA from Sikata Khurshid Ahmad has expressed his profound grief in fire.
