Patna: With the arrest of three persons, Patna Police on January 10 claimed to have busted a gang involved in  supply of fake drugs in the name of reputed medicine companies. Police also seized huge amount of fake medicines worth Rs 20 lakh from the possession of the arrested persons.

Police said that authorized officer of Abbort Company Mustafa Hussain met Patna Senior SP (SSP) Manu Maharaaj and apprised him that medicines with fake wrappers of reputed pharmaceutical firms were being sold in the city. Acting on the directives of SSP, members of Special Technical Cell, at the instance of Hussain, carried out raid in Bihari Sao Lane and arrested one Sunil Kumar with fake wrappers. Acting on the revelations made by the arrested person, the team members raided Sunil’s house and recovered fake medicines worth Rs. 5 lakh from there.

The arrested youth told police that one Babloo Kumar, who works as a medicine hawker on Govind Mitra Road, Patna, also supplies fake medicines. Police later arrested Babloo Kumar and both the arrested persons told the police that they used to get fake medicines from one Mantoo Kumar and supplied the same in the market.

Police said that the kingpin Mantoo Kumar was arrested from Bahadurpur Housing Colony with fake medicines worth Rs 15 lakh. The arrested youths were identified as Sunil Kumar, a native of village Nagwa under Maner ps in Patna, Babloo Kumar, a native of village Morhe under Fatehpur ps in Gaya, and Mantoo Kumar, a native of Housing Colony under Bahadurpur ps in Patna.
