Patna : Second seed Dominic Thiem, 27, Austria, 3rd seed Daniil Medvedev, 24, Russia, and 10th seed Andrey Rublev, 22, Russia, advanced to the men’s singles quarter-finals of US Open (tennis) at Newyork City, Newyork, USA, on September 8, 2020.

Dominic Thiem, who had reached French Open Final in 2018 and 2019 and Australian Open Final in 2020, brushed aside 15th seed Felix Auger Aliassime, 20, Canada, 7-6, 6-1, 6-1 in Round of 16 to set up a QFs clash with 21st seed Alex de Minaur, 21, Australia, on September 9, 2020. The Austrian won 6 break points in the match to just 1 by Aliassime.

The Canadian, however, hammered 12 Aces in the match to just 3 by Thiem. Both the players committed two double faults each. Thiem won 5 games in a row during the match to 3 by the Canadian. He also won 8 games in a row to 2 by Tiafoe.

Rublev defeated 6th seed Matteo Berrettini, 24, Italy, four-sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in Round of 16. Rublev won 4 break points in the match to 1 by the Italian. The Russian fired 9 Aces in the match to 5 by Berrettini. Both the players won 3 games each in a row.
