New Delhi : The huge increase in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured/discharged continues in India reaching 33,23,950 at 8 am on September 8, 2020, an increase of 73,521 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by a huge margin of 24,40, 253. The number of active cases in the country was 8,83,697 on September 8, 2020, which is 20.65 % of the total COVID cases reported so far in the country. On September 6, 2020, 73,642 patients were declared cured.
India has reported 42,80,422 COVID-19 cases till date including 75,809 new cases during last 24 hours of which 33,23,950 patients have been declared cured/discharged with the recovery rate being 77.65 %. The country has tested 5,06,50,128 COVID samples so far including 10,98,621 on September 7, 2020.
On the negative side, the COVID-19 death toll surged to 72,775 on September 8, 2020, with 1,133 new deaths being reported from different places across the country including 403 from Maharashtra, 141 from Karnataka, 89 from Tamilnadu, 70 from Andhra Pradesh, 56 from Uttar Pradesh, 58 from West Bengal, 61 from Punjab, 32 from Delhi, and 15 from Gujarat. The Case Fatality Rate had dropped to 1.7 % in the country on September 8, 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
