Bagaha: An urgent meeting of West Champaran Tharus Welfare Federation was held on Wednesday at Harnatard. The meeting presided by Fedration president Dip Narain Prasad and expressed its displeasure over inordinate delay in action against police personnel responsible for Naurangia firing in which 6 Tharus were killed and several others sustained bullets injuries on June 23, 2013 .
The meeting also regretted that though one man judicial commission headed by a retired high court judge Rajendar Prasad submitted its report to CM Nitish Kumar in July this year, the same is gathering at the office the chief minister. The state government did not implement even Scheduled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers Right Act, .2006, and the families living in and around Valmiki Tiger Reserve are still deprived of Forest rights, the fedration said. The federation also resolved that participation of locals should be ensured in sand mining in Tharuhat . The federation will submit a memorandum to CM Nitish Kumar regarding its demands after its next meeting on September 18.
