Bagaha : A day long conference of Tharu Intellectuals Forum held under aegis of Indian Tharu Welfare Federation concluded on November 10, 2018, evening, at Tharu dominated village Harnatard.

Many Tharu leaders, intellectuals from Uttar Pradesh (UP), Uttarakhand, and Nepal including Chandar Ram, a retired commissioner of UP, Kannulal Chaudhary, Vice- President, Tharu Welfare Committee, Nepal, Gopal Singh Rana, Tharu President, Khatima in Uttrakhand, attended the conference.

President of West Champaran Unit of Indian Tharu Welfare Federation Deep Narain Prasad while addressing the conference said that the objective of the intellectual forum was  to serve Tharus who are poor economically and support students who are unable to pursue higher education and preserve the Tharu culture. The conference passed a resolution demanding increase in quota for Tharus in Government services. A cheque of Rs 25,000 was handed over to a MBBS student Bhupendra Kumar for completing his eduction by Deep Narain Prasad. Many Tharus, who had been retired from Government Service, were felicitated on the occasion.
