Ara : Tension runs high in and around village Nadhi under Sahar police station, about 25 km south to Ara, the district headquarters of Bhojpur, after the murder of a CPI(ML) leader Ramakant Ram on August 27, 2018, morning. Police are yet to arrest his killers though the police force has been deployed and intensive combing operation has been launched to arrest them.

A named FIR has been lodged with Sahar police station against Ritesh Rai and Vikesh Rai, sons of late Surya Narayan Rai, on the statement of the deceased’s son Nirukant Ram. Ramakant Ram, son of Shakun Ram of Nadhi, was shot dead while attending call of nature in the field near a canal.

SHO, Sahar police station, said that a farmer Surya Narayan Rai and Rajnish Rai were killed in 2000 at Nadhi-Baghi under Sahar police station and Ramakant Ram was made one of the main accused in the double murder case and he was arrested and sent to jail at that time. In 2000, a war of attrition between the CPI (ML) and banned Ranveer Sena was in full swing.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that Ramakant Ram was on the radar of a particular group and was shot at and injured on September 17, 2017, and on December 17, 2017, and his standing crops were set afire. Seven activists of the CPI (ML) have been killed in the last six years including Ramakant Ram.
