Patna : Bihar Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav will not resign from his post in the wake of the CBI registering a case against him, his father and the then Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and former CM Rabri Devi, two Directors of a private Hotel Ltd. Company on July 5, 2017, on the allegations of awarding the tender for development, maintenance and operation of BNR Hotels at Ranchi and Puri to said private Hotel Ltd. Company in 2006. This was announced on July 10, 2017, by the State RJD Chief Ram Chandra Purbey and Finance Minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui after a meeting of RJD legislators held at the official residence of Rabri Devi, 10, Circular Road, Patna.

The RJD termed the CBI raid at Lalu’s residence and quizzing of Rabri and Tejaswi by the CBI sleuths on July 7, 2017, as a politics of vendetta. Both Siddiqui and Purbey said that everytime attempts have been made to harass Lalu the latter has emerged stronger. The RJD legislators unanimously said that Tejaswi will not resign. All of them appreciated the performance of Tejaswi as the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddiqui said.

Rubbishing the BJP demand for resignation of Tejaswi, several RJD MLAs said the BJP should first remove Uma Bharti from the Union Cabinet as chargesheet had been filed against her in Babri Masjid demolition case. RJD vice-president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said that the BJP had no right to seek resignation of Tejaswi Yadav.

The JD(U) will also hold an important meeting on July 11 to discuss various issues. CM Nitish Kumar has so far maintained a studied silence over the recent developments. But, he does not appear inclined to remove Tejaswi from his Cabinet otherwise he would not have remained silent for four days over the CBI case against Tejaswi, Lalu and Rabri, ED raids at Dr Misa Bharti’s farm houses in Delhi and Income-tax department attaching 12 properties of Lalu’s family members . In fact, Nitish had recently said that he would attend the RJD rally on August 27 provided he is invited to attend it.
