Teacher draws salary for three years without teaching

Ara : A matter of drawing salary by a lady teacher without coming to school for the last three years has come to light in Bhojpur district. In fact, the teacher came to her school only for 355 days in last ten years. The Headmaster incharge, Balika Primary School, Kritpura under Koelwar block in Bhojpur district, had complained to the senior officials of the education department about it but no action has so far been taken. He also alleged that he was threatened and pressurized not to mark her absent.

In a petition to the District Programme Officer (DPO), the Headmaster incharge Rabindra Kumar said that Shweta Kumari was appointed teacher on contract basis at the Balika Primary School, Kritpura, on March 6, 2007, but she hardly visited the school. She was either deputed somewhere else or sent on training as she was daughter of the then Block Education Officer(BEO), Koelwar, at the time of her appointment. He alleged that the then BEO always asked him not to mark her absent. He said that no teacher can be deputed or transferred outside her/his contact unit. But Shweta Kumari was always deputed outside her contact unit and remained absent from duty without any information.

The HM incharge said that he was threatened on mobile by her father and so he had filed a complaint case in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ara, against the BEO. Block Education Officer (BEO), Koelwar, Heera Lal Singh, said that the matter has come to his notice and an inquiry was being conducted into it.
