Patna : Top seed and World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Taiwan, beat World No 4 Akane Yamaguchi, 21, Japan, in straight games in the final to win the women’s singles title at Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open 2019, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 757 category tournament, at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 7, 2019.
Tai Tzu Ying, the reigning Asian Games champion and winner of 23 career titles, beat 4th seed Yamaguchi 21-16, 21-19 in 40 minutes in the final to lift the singles title on April 7. Tai Tzu won 42 rallies in the match to 35 by Yamaguchi. She won 5 consecutive points to 4 by Yamaguchi. Tai Tzu now leads Yamaguchi 9-7 head to head.
The winner of this tournament gets 11,000 points while the runners-up gets 9,350 points. The players losing in the first round get 2,660 points.
