Patna : World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings and reigning Asian Games champion Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Chinese Taipei, entered the women’s singles final of Yonex All England Badminton Championship 2019 at Arena Birmingham, England, on March 9, 2019, evening, defeating World No 5 Akane Yamaguchi, 21, Japan, in the semi-finals.

Top seed and defending champion Tai Tzu beat 4th seed Akane Yamaguchi in three games 21-13, 10-21, 21-8 in 47 minutes. Tai Tzu won 52 rallies to 42 by Yamaguchi. Tai Tzu won 8 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Yamaguchi. Tai Tzu now leads Yamaguchi 8-7 head to head. Tai Tzu has won 23 career titles.
