Patna : England crushed West Indies (WI) by 137 runs in the 2nd T20I at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts, on March 8, 2019, night, with Samuel William Billings better known as Sam Billings, 27, scoring a blistering 87 in 47 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes and Joe Root scoring 55 (run out) in 40 balls with 7 fours.
England captain Eoin Morgan fell to fast bowler Carlos Brathwaite for 1 while openers Alex Hales and Jonny Bairstow scored 8 and 12 runs respectively. Sam Billings was named Player of the Match. England now lead the three-match T20I series 2-0.
West Indies won the toss but opted to bowl. Batting first, England scored 182/6 in 20 overs and then skittled out West Indies for a paltry 45 in 11.5 overs with openers Chris Gayle and Shai Hope (wk) getting out for 5 and 7 runs respectively. Fast bowler Chris Jordan, 30, took 4/6 in 2 overs while fellow fast bowler Liam Plunkett took 2/8 in 2.5 overs. It was West Indies’ second lowest total in T20I.
