Patna : Sumit Nagal, 20, India, won Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger defeating Jay Clarke, 19, UK, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, in the final at Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association Ground on November 25, 2017. Clarke is ranked 279 in ATP rankings.

Nagal, ranked 321 in the ATP rankings, had defeated top seed Blaz Kavcic, Slovenia, ranked 102 in ATP rankings, in the quarterfinals and third seed  Yuki Bhambri, 25, India, ranked 122 in ATP rankings, in the semifinals.

This is Nagal’s first ATP Challenger trophy. He won 100 ATP ranking points for winning the Bengaluru Open ATP challenger and won $ 14,440. He is likely to jump about 80 places in the ATP rankings to be released on November 27, 2017. Bhambri had won the Pune ATP Challenger recently.
