Patna : World No 27 Hsieh Su-Wei, 33, Chinise Taipei, at shocked World No 1 Naomi Osaka, 21, Japan, in the women’s singles 3rd round of Miami Open at Hard Rock Stadium, Florida, USA, in the biggest upset in the tournament. Su-Wei beat Osaka in three-sets 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 to advance to 4th round of the tournament.

Su-Wei broke Osaka’s service 5 times in the match while the latter broke her service 4 times. Osaka won 7 games in a row in the match to 4 by Su-Wei. Osaka had also lost in the 4th round of Indian Wells Masters at California, USA, last week.

World No 24 and winner of Indian Wells singles title last week Bianca Andreescu, 18, Canada, beat World No 4 and winner of 3 Grand Slam titles Angelique Kerber, 31, Germany, in three-sets to advance to the 4th round of the tournament. The Canadian teenage sensation Bianca beat Kerber 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in the 3rd round. Bianca broke Kerber’s service 6 times while the latter broker her service 4 times in the match. Both the players won 5 games each in a row.

World No 13 Caroline Wozniacki, 28, Denmark, entered the 4th round defeating World No 138 Monica Nicilescu, 31, Romania, 6-4, 7-6 in the 3rd round firing 4 Aces. Wozniacki won 4 break points to 3 by Monica. Wozniacki will face Su-Wei in the 4th round.
