Students stage ghearo of VC, VKSU

Ara : Hundreds of activists of All India Students’ Association (AISA), National Students Association anof India (NSUI) and other student organizations locked the main gate of the administrative block of Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, and gheraoed the Vice-Chancellor (VC) on December 20 in protest against lathicharge by the police on the agitating students on December 19 evening.

Activists of the NSUI had made the VC, VKSU, Leela Chand Sah captive at his chamber on December 19 for  alleged corruption and favouritism in the university, irregularities in admission, use of unfair means at the examination, besides demanding resignation of the Principal, H D Jain College, Ara, Chandrashekhar Sah. The  VC remained captive till around 7 pm when police force was requisitioned. Police took  the VC to his residence under their custody. On the way a guard fell into a ditch that angered the police and they resorted to lathi charge on the agitating students in which over a dozen students were injured.
