Saharsa : The students of Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University (BNMU), Madhepura, North Bihar, on August 8, 2018, strongly protested the preparartion of panel for appointment against Class 3 and Class IV posts on contract basis at university auditorium. The shortlisting of aspirants began on August 7 and continued on August 8. The students alleged that the university had not advertised the posts and making appointments without taking permission from the state government.

The students asked the BNMU Registrar Neeraj Kumar on whose order the appointments were being made. Registrar Kumar told them that the students had no right to ask this question which angered the students. The Registrar asked the security personnel to remove them from the university campus. This led to scuffle in which Registrar Kumar and a student were injured.

Coming out of the campus, the students staged gherao of  Pro VC Farooqui and asked the same question from him as well. Pro VC Farooqui was manhandled too after which university officials and employees stopped work. Proctor Arun Kumar lodged an FIR against 6 named and 19 unnamed accused with police in this connection.

VC Prof Awadh Kishore Rai, Pro VC, and Regitrar, claimed that the university was not making any appointment and interviews were being held to prepare the panel only.
