Students dies after falling from running train near Ara, Rail SP orders probe

Ara : A BA student fell from a running train between Ara and Zamira railway stations under Danapur Division of East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur,  and died on March 14, 2019, late evening. SP, Rail, Patna, Sujit Kumar, has ordered inquiry into the death of Shivesh Kumar and Danapur Inspector has been directed to inquire into the incident.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) brought the body over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem. The deceased was identified as Shivesh Kumar, 19, son of Devendra Singh of village Andhari under Riga police station in Sitamarhi district. Police recovered some toffies and a ticket from Patna to Ara from his packet but his mobile phone was not found on the spot.

SHO, GRP, Ara said that Shivesh Kumar was coming from Patna to Ara standing at the gate of the train with his mobile in hand. When the train was between Zamira and Ara railway stations, some members of a gang of mobile snatchers attacked him with a bamboo stick on his hand to snatch the mobile. Shivesh Kumar, in his bid to balance himself, fell on the track and sustained  serious head injury. He succumbed to his injuries on spot.

Rail SP Sujit Kumar said that the activities of mobile snatchers’ gang had come to his knowledge and action is being taken against them. The SP said that he has directed police to identify the miscreants and arrest them at any cost. The rail SP also warned the passengers not to travel standing at the gate of the trains and also not to use mobile phones at the windows or gate of the trains.
