Students denied permission to enter STET Exam Centre at Ara stage demonstration

Ara : Dozens of students staged demonstration at the gate of H N K High School, Ara, on January 28, 2020, when they were not allowed to enter the examination centre to take the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) examination despite reaching there on time.

Bhojpur District administration had made elaborate arrangement for the peaceful and fair conduct STET Examination at  seven centres in the district. Altogether 5,640 students were scheduled to appear at the examination in the first sitting from 10am to 12.30pm and another 2,050 students in the second sitting from 2pm to 4.30pm.

Eleven Static Magistrates, 15 police officials, three flying squads, three Zonal Magistrates and two Super Zonal Magistrates were deputed to maintain law and order. Bhojpur DM Roushan Kushwaha and SP Sushil Kumar, in a joint order, had directed the students not to come with watch, shoes, socks, calculator and other articles and reach their respective centres 30 minute prior to the commencement of the examination failing which they would not be allowed to enter the examination centre.

Dozens of students including some girl students were not allowed to entre the examination centre at H N K High School, Ara, after they reached the examination centre after 9.30 am. The students claimed that they reached the examination centre in time but the officials did not allow them to enter. They held Bhojpur district administration responsible for it. When their  efforts to enter the exam centre failed, they resorted to agitation and staged demonstration in front of the gate of the examination centre raising slogans against the district administration.
