Patna  : World No 10 Kidambi Srikanth, India, and World No 13 Sameer Verma, India, were knocked out of Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament, at Tokyo, Japan, on July 24, 2019.

Srikanth lost to compatriot and World No 34 H S Prannoy in three games in the first round at Musashino Forest Sports Plaza, Tokyo, Japan. Prannoy beat Srikanth 13-21, 21-11, 22-20 in 59 minutes to enter the second round. Prannoy won 56 rallies in the match to 52 by Srikanth. He won 7 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Srikanth. Srikanth, however, still leads Prannoy 4-2 Head to Head.

World No 9 Anders Antonsen, Denmark, beat Sameer Verma in straight games 21-17 21-12 in 46 minutes in the first round. Antonsen won 42 rallies in the match to 29 by Sameer. He won 6 consecutive points to 4 by Sameer. Antonsen now leads Sameer 3-1 Head to Head.

The winner of this tournament will get 11,000 points while the runner-up will get 9,350 points.
