Patna :  India No 1 and World No 88 in ATP rankings Prajnesh Gunneswara, 29,  lost to World No 11 Kwon Soon-Woo, 21, South Korea,  in  three sets in the first round of Atlanta Open, an ATP 250 points tournament at Atlanta, USA, on July 23, 2019, late night.

Kwon Soon-Woo beat Prajnesh 6-7, 7-5, 6-0 coming from behind. Prajnesh fired 12 Aces in the match to 8 by Kwon. He, however, also committed 9 double faults to 4 by the South Korean. Kwon won 4 break points in the match to none by the Indian. Kwon won  9 games in a row to 3 by Prajnesh. Kwon will face World No 54 Cameron Norrie, 23, UK, in the second round.

World No 57 Reilly Opelka, 21, USA, and World No 100 Matthew Ebden, 31, Australia, also entered the second round of the tournament. Opelka beat World No 71 Alexander Bublik, Kazakhstan, 6-3, 7-6 in the first round while Ebden defeated World No 102  Kamil Majchrzak, 23, Poland,  7-6, 6-3 in the first round.
