Patna : World No 12 Kidambi Srikanth and World No 23 Parupalli Kashyap, both India, crashed out of Perodua Malaysia Masters, an HSBC BWF World Tour 500 event, at Kualalumpur, Malaysia, 8, 2020. losing their respective first round matches on January 8, 2020.

World N0 1 and two-time World Champion Kento Momota, Japan, the top seed, beat Parupalli Kashyap, India, in straight games 21-17, 21-16 in 43 minutes in first round. Kashyap though put up  strong resistance to Momota. Momota won 42 rallies in the match to 33 by Kashyap. Both the players won 4 consecutive points each in the match. Momota now leads Kashyap 4-0 Head to Head.

World No 2 Chou Tien Chen, Chinese Taipei, beat Kidambi Srikanth, India, 21-17, 21-5 in only 30 minutes in first round. Chen was all over Srikanth in the second game. Chen won 42 rallies in the match to 22 by Srikanth. He won 7 consecutive points during the match to 5 by Srikanth. Chen now leads Srikanth 5-1 Head to Head.

World No 5 Viktor Axelsen, Denmark , beat World No 21 Tommy Sugiarto, Indonesia, 21-13, 21-8 in just 26 minutes to enter the  2nd round. Axelsen won 42 rallies in the match to 21 by Sugiarto. He won 8 consecutive points in the match to 2 by the Indonesian. Axelsen now leads Sugiarto 5-2 Head to Head.

World No 16 Kenta Nishimoto, Japan, beat World No 44 Sung Fei Xiang, China, 23-21, 21-10 in 48 minutes to advance to the 2nd round. Nishimoto won 44 rallies in the match to 31 by Xiang. He won 6 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the Chinese. It was first meeting between the two players on World Tour Circuit.
