Patna : World No 8 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Kidambi Srikanth, India, entered the quarter-finals of BWF China Open on September 20, 2018. Srikanth beat World No 23 Suppanyu Avihingsanon, Thailand, in a three-set thriller 21-12, 15-21, 24-22 in 63 minute at Changzhou, China, in the second round.

But, World No 13 Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Indonesia, stunned Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, in straight sets 21-18, 21-17 in the second round in 45 minute to enter the QF of the tournament. World No 6 Chen Long, China, beat World No 38 Jan O Jorgensen, Denmark, 21-10, 21-5 in second round in 35 minute to enter the QF.

World No 3 Shi Yuqi, China, beat World No 28 Lee Hyun Il, South Korea, in a three-set encounter 19-21, 21-18, 21-15 in 57 minute to enter the QF of the event. World No 7 Son Wan Ho, South Korea, beat World No 25 Wong Wing Ki Vincent, Hong Kong, 21-16, 21-16 in second round in 44 minute to enter the QF.
