Srikanth advances to 2nd round of BWF Indonesia Masters 2019

Patna : World No 8 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Kidambi Srikanth, 25, India, advanced to second round of BWF Daihatsu Indonesia Masters at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia, on January 23, 2019. But, World No 42 Parupalli Kashyap, 32, India, lost to World No 7 Anthony Sinisuka Jinting, 22, Indonesia, in the first round.

Srikanth defeated World No 44 Chong Wei Feng, 31, Malaysia, 21-12, 21-8 in the first round in 29 minutes. Srikanth won 42 rallies in the match to 20 by Feng. He also won 7 consecutive points in the match to 3 by his rival. Srikanth will face World No 10 Kenta Nishimoto, 24, Japan, in the second round.

Jinting beat Kashyap 21-12, 21-16 in the first round in 39 minutes. Jinting won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Kashyap. Jinting won 6 consecutive points to 4 by Kashyap. Jinting now leads Kashyap 4-0 head to head.
