Patna : Sri Lanka were 31/3 at stumps in their second innings on the fourth day in the third and final test against India at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi, on December 5, 2017, with D de Silvaon on 13 not out and former captain Angelo mathews yet to score. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took 2/5 in 5 overs two of which were maiden. Fast bowler Mohd Shami also took one wicket. Sri Lanka will have to bat full three sessions on December 6 to avoid defeat in the test.

Batting first, India had declared their first innings at 536/7 replying to which Sri Lanka made 373. India declared their seconds innings at 246/5 with Shikhar Dhawan making 67, Captain Virat Kohli 50 and Rohit Sharma 5o not out. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane’s poor form continued in the series as he was out for 10. Muli Vijay was out for 9.

Sri Lanka made a diastrous start to their second innings and were 31/3 at stumps on the fourth day with Jadeja taking the wickets of Karunaratne, who made 13, and Suranga Lakmal for zero. Shami took the wicket of  S Samarwickrama for five.
