Patna : South Africa (SA) crushed Sri Lanks (SL) 10 wickets inside three days in 2nd test at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, SA, on January 5, 2021, to sweep the two-match series 2-0. SA opener Dean Elgar, 33,  was named both Player Of The Match and also Player Of The Series. Elgar had scored 95 in the first innings of 1st test and 127 in first innings of 2nd test.

SL, who had scored just 157 runs in their first innings, were all out for 211 in their second innings on Day 3 on January 5, 2021, as fast bowler Lungi Ngidi took 4/44 in 15 overs while fast medium bowler Lutho Sipamla took 3/40 in 9.5 overs and fast bowler Anrich Nortje took 2/64 in 19 overs. Medium fast bowler Wiaan Mulder took 1/52.

For SL, captain Dimuth Karunaratne (opener) scored 103 runs in 128 balls with 19 fours while Niroshan Dickwella (wk) scored 36 runs in 68 balls with 6 fours. Lahiru Thirimanne scored 31 in 57 balls with 7 fours. SL had won the toss and opted to bat.

SA had scored 302 in their first innings with opener Dean Elgar scoring 127 and 67/0 in their second innings with openers Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram scoring unbeaten 31 and 36 runs respectively. SA had won the 1st test by an innings and 45 runs.
